Dr Howard Bergman is chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Professor of Family Medicine, Medicine, and Oncology, and the first Dr Joseph Kaufmann Professor of Geriatric Medicine at McGill University. The main thrust of Dr Bergman’s work has been to link research with policy change in the fields of aging, chronic disease, and frailty, and the promotion of primary care. His work on integrated care for very frail older persons is recognized internationally in both academic and government circles. He is now working with the Ministry of Health in the implementation of the Quebec Alzheimer plan.
